There are four simple ways i am Safe will help you in an emergency, (providing you have an adequate signal):

1. Making your phone ring

2. Sending a previously worded emergency text or voice message to five pre-determined contacts

3. Sending a previously worded emergency email to the five contacts, including a link to a map showing where you are

4. Recording audio of the incident and sending it to the i am Safe server for future reference

All of this happens only upon your activation, and works anywhere in the world, subject to the integrity of the signal on your iPhone. It’s not something you can trigger accidentally as activation begins with a countdown to launch, determined by you on set-up, between 2 and 5 seconds long. To cancel the countdown, you simply slide a bar.

i am Safe is available for download now from the iTunes App Store, priced at USD$6.99. The even better news is that if you are quick you can download it at the promotional price and it will cost you just USD$2.99. You can activate i am safe once for the price of the download, and purchase recharges (if necessary) through the App on your iPhone.

zenonia.pngIn my opinion, Zenonia ZENONIA by Gamevil has to be one of the BEST action RPG games in the iTunes AppStore to date. At $2.99 this game has amazing replay value and longevity. You can play as up to three different character classes and choose between good and evil.

So far I’ve played about 50 hours and I think the closest game that describes the gameplay is Zelda or Secret of Mana. I know what you’re thinking, it’s a tall order and yes it is. I have to say in my opinion, Zenonia delivers on all fronts.
Zenonia is complete with a free-ranging surface world as well as dungeons. Of course, monsters are easily found throughout the world and are more than happy to provide you with equipment (potions, weapons, etc.).

One of the initial problems that I had involved not having a physical D-pad control, but that is not the fault of Gamevil and rather just an issue involving virtual controls. In any case, as I put in more hours, my fingers seemed to find the area where they were supposed to go….maybe I’m just imagining it, but I didn’t seem to get as much finger drift in later parts of the game.
Anyway, I just wanted to get right into the videos because there are two of them…It’s a two part series, try to sit through them because I feel that they’re worth watching. Enjoy
Zenonia Part I
Zenonia Part II
If you enjoyed my review, head on over the AppStore, Zenonia is available NOW on sale for $2.99.

There were reports filtering out that iPhone apps may not be legal for business use. Those stories are untrue according to PC World at least for users of the App Store in the US. Those original reports were from language in the terms for Sweden and the UK that said apps are for personal, non-commercial use only.

iphonespreadsheet-sb

PC World reports that the language from the UK and Swedish App Stores is not present in the app store rules for the US. The Apple TOS apparently places no limitations on the use of apps in the US.

PC world figures that the terms and service may have been misunderstood. It wouldn’t make much sense to have apps not be usable legally to business users.

The game app called Battle Bears has proven to be very popular. The game has you as a bear in a sandbag hideout shooting teddy bears that come stumbling towards you in an attempt to hug you to death.

BattleBears_iPhone

The game has proven to be so popular since its launch on August 31 that it has grabbed the number 1 spot on the Action/Adventure game list and the number three spot on the all games chart. The game has been downloaded 800,000 times and is expected to hit a million downloads by the end of September.

New versions of the game are coming with more details on the storyline and characters. In the game, the bear characters use weapons like the Bearzooka and Unicorn Horn Crossbow. The full game sells for 99 cents and a free version is available as well.

There are plenty of iPhone applications available that give you maps and direction to get to places you want to go like convention centers and malls. Once you get there, there isn’t really an app to help you get around.

micello-logo

Micello is set to unveil its new iPhone app today that is designed to help you navigate inside buildings once you get there. The app has maps of shopping centers, colleges, convention centers and more. Using the iPhone users can navigate around these places with ease.

I wish this were available the last time I went to CES; I may not have spent so much time lost. Few details are available on the app at this time, but it is set to be unveiled very soon.

I have not so fond memories of those huge calculators from TI from school. They always went along with reams of homework it seems. TI has announced a new iPhone app called BAII Plus is now available on the app store.

ticalculator

The calculator app isn’t cheap at $14.99, but as I recall the real calculators can cost upwards of $100 or so. The app is a financial calculator that will operate on the iPhone and iPod touch.

The app is aimed at realtors, accountants, stockbrokers and anyone else who use complex financial equations. The CPU in the iPhone is fast enough to make quick work of the calculations according to TI.

The iPhone is known for many things from great usability to poor battery life. Thankfully, there are several aftermarket external battery solutions available to help the poor battery life issue.

dexiumpflip

Dexim has announced three new iPhone docks today that include the P-Flip Foldable Power Dock, the Rechargeable Power Stand, and the 2x Foldable Power Dock. Each of the devices has a 2000mAh battery inside for more run time.

The stands promise 8 hours more talk, 15 hours more gaming, and 80 more hours of music. The Rechargeable Power Stand will be a Brookstone exclusive and the 2x foldable Power dock has an output to share the battery power with another device. Pricing is unknown.
