DoubleIP S.A., the developers of DoubleSMS, has launched a remarkable new product for iPhone. The application enables users to check the current mobile operator of their contacts and provides a simple one step mechanism to mark this info on their address book. Mobile Number Portability allows anyone to change mobile operator by keeping his existing number. Users having free calls/text towards mobile numbers of the same operator, feel uncertain about their costs when placing a call or sending a text. DoubleCheck removes this uncertainty by providing the mobile operator of the person called on the iPhone screen. DoubleCheck, helps users reduce their communication costs while at the same time exploit the usage of their free call/text plans.

With support for all mobile operators in more than 200 countries, virtually anyone can benefit from this application, regardless of where they are located.

Using DoubleCheck, iPhone users are no longer in doubt about where they place a call or send a message. They check the mobile operator of their contacts, they mark it on their address book and then with just a glance on their iPhone screen they know if the number they are calling belongs to their free plan or not.

The application will additionally help users cleanup their address book from numbers that are no longer valid. The application has been designed for extra ease of use. With one click the mobile network operator information is marked on the iPhone’s address book.

Announcing that Mobilehead Games, the developers of Robin Hood: Hero of Hope, has released a special new product for iPhone users. The application offers some of the best of steam punk fantasy gameplay and challenging fun. Users are put in the role of Robin Hood, the one counted on to save damsels in distress and put bad guys in their place. Features include an over shoulder view with point and shoot capabilities, as well as funny character voiceovers. To celebrate Robin Hood Week, users can purchase the app at a special price.

When Mobilehead Games producer, Will Magno, started developing Robin Hood: Hero of Hope with his team, he wasn’t sure what direction it would take, “We started to develop stories that ranged from sci-fi, zombies and Mil-sims but we ultimately landed on Fantasy. We started sketching out ideas for this world we were going to create. It evolved into a steam punk fantasy vigilante hero that was Robin Hood.”

From that basic concept, Mobilehead developers added game elements that stock the app with plenty of challenging and fun features. Throughout six levels of gameplay, users can choose views and weapons as they avoid injury, fight villains and save buxom damsels in distress. For added hilarity, the characters speak in funny voiceovers.

You can’t do that with the iPhone unless you have a really flexible neck. A new case concept for the iPhone has surfaced called the Arkhippo. The case makes the iPhone majorly fat. The upside is you could probably comfortable hold the phone between your cheek and shoulder with the case on the iPhone.

The case has an angled back and bottom that is designed to let you stand the iPhone up or sit it in landscape mode. The concept measures 170mm H x 83mm W x 50mm D and is made from a material similar to that of Crocs shoes. I don’t think you could carry the phone in your pocket if you use this case.

Catamount Software has announced Today! 1.0, an app that supplements Calendar to add missing features sought out by busy professionals and others who need more ease, efficiency, and power than Apple’s Calendar supplies. Mail, Messages, and Phone all show a badge when you have things to do in them, but Calendar is missing this crucial piece of information so that allows you to quickly view what you have left to do today without needing to open Calendar.

Today! also shows all the information you need about appointment time, location, and notes for the appointment without needing extra taps, and integrates with Maps so you can tap on location to open the route to your next appointment.

“Finally an app that can actually help me manage my schedule. As great as the iPhone is, the calendar function requires several mechanical processes to manage your meetings, but with Today! all you need to do is turn on the phone and “presto” all your calendars are merged and managed right on the main screen. I’ve stopped missing meetings … now that’s great for Today!” – Andy Sanborn, busy small business owner.

Photo Shootout
, the first-ever professional photography sim game app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and now available on the Apple iTunes App store, lets users experience the glamour and thrill of being a pro-photographer. Now on sale for $2.99 (regularly $4.99), the game was developed by Paul Michaels an award-winning fashion photographer to provide live-action in-game assignments, allowing users to edit and sell their photos, and admire their work in the in-game portfolio. Users even earn game-money from their assignments to purchase more pro-camera equipment within the game’s camera store.

Photo Shootout simulates the experience of looking through a pro-photographer’s camera. There are 11 built in assignments to shoot, of gorgeous models in close-up for potential magazine covers, product packaging and models sporting bikinis for advertisements or magazine editorials. Paul Michaels, the app’s designer, based the game on his decades of experience as a fashion and beauty photographer, shooting his first national fashion magazine cover at the age of 19.

With an estimated 110 million digital cameras being sold in 2010, and Apple’s iPhone/iOS device install base over 100 million, there are plenty of consumers who use and enjoy digital photography on a daily basis. “Now anyone can enjoy the fantasy of taking their photography skills to a professional level,” explains Mr. Michaels. “With the iPhone sim game, Photo Shootout, anybody can be a pro photographer – even if it’s only for a few minutes.”
