Apple has finally approved a Twitter iPhone app despite sometimes presents naughty words, CNET reports. The company intially rejected Tweetie 1.3 due to an offensive word appeared in Twitter’s Trends data.
In an e-mail earlier Tuesday, app developer Loren Brichter said Apple quoted this part of the company’s guidelines as a reason for the decision:
“Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive, or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable judgement may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod Touch users.”
However, Apple relented Tuesday, according Brichter.
“Great news! 1.3 has now been approved! Alright Apple!,” Brichter tweeted late this afternoon.
Tweetie 1.3 itself offers the long list of features and improvements include:
- Post pictures with Mobypicture and yfrog (in addition to TwitPic)
- New “Link” button to add to Instapaper faster, and repost individual links
- View full-size profile images
- Dark theme
- Ping.fm integration
- Tweetshrink integration
- Twitlonger integration
- German localization
- Russian localization
- Allow DMs up to 255 characters
- Many UI tweaks
- Play back Song.ly links
- Option to use “RT” syntax
