I have to admit, I’m a bit of a photo buff. Even though I don’t have expensive cameras anymore, at one time, I was into 35 mm SLRs and buying lenses. In any case, one of the “effects” that I’ve always been intrigued by is the “tilt shift” effect.
Basically, as the name implies, the trick involves a rotation of the lens (tilt) PLUS moving of the lens (shift). In any case, the end result is a photo that has a very shallow depth of field…In other words, tilt shifting a photo will cause it to look like a miniature.
Now, fast forward to the PhotoShop era. Post-processing of photos became widespread, photographers and artists are now able to electronically create the tilt shift effect. That brings us to the TiltShift iPhone app. Because the iPhone is basically a computer running a version of OS X, developers are able to program applications that can almost deliver the same functionality as a desktop application.
In any case, TiltShift for the iPhone is a very fun and intuitive application if you enjoy photography and post-processing photos. It takes a somewhat complicated, involved process (tilt shifting) and makes it enjoyable and easy for anyone to do. Watch my vid below to see TiltShift in action. Enjoy, check it out in the AppStore.
